New Works for Fall 2011

Posted by Molly Krava on August 20, 2011 (0 Comments)

This fall season, I am working up some new kinds of glass work. I am developing some forms that are made out of recycled bottle glass. My first attempts at this are a bit rough, as I lack some equipment that I really need, like a lap grinder and a saw, so I am breaking the source glass with a hammer, fusing the broken glass into a thick form that I can then slump. I am hand cutting and doing some grinding work, but my goal is to get this new equipment I need this year so I can make some more finished forms,.

I have to say,I actually like the primitive bowls and the fact that they are made from 100% recycled bottles really excites me.

I also took a broken vase someone gave me, broke it up, re-fused it, then slumped that fused piece into a small dish form, it came out like this:

Some new jewelry I am making is created from African recycled glass beads, and copper wire. I didn't make the beads, but I do the wire work. Again, sort of primitive and tribal looking.

I am also working on some more traditional glass but painting the pieces myself, and creating other different kinds of bowls. I will post pics as I finish pieces. I also plan on doing some more jewelry, sets of things made out of glass, copper and also glass and silver that I will metal-smith all by hand. I am not sure where I am going with all this, but this is the direction I am going! More soon.

Of Glass and Metal

Posted by Molly Krava on November 02, 2010 (0 Comments)

I know, I know, I make glass right? Yes that is true, but lately I have been experimenting with metal again. I studied metalsmithing for around 3 or 4 years but put it down for a while. I am still not in possession of a good torch, but one is coming soon. I am instead, cold-working metal, using material like copper pipe, copper and sterling sheet, and various kinds of wire. It's very exciting, though my hands hurt.

I will post pics as soon as I finish. I am doing all this work to prepare for this jewelry and accessory expo in Peachtree City, GA this Saturday. After that, I will be also posting more jewelry online, unless I sell out! That would be nice, as I can always make more. Ok, that is all.

Rockwater Glass Gallery

Posted by Molly Krava on October 12, 2010 (0 Comments)

Ok, since I am very close to launching this new site for real and hopefully promoting it and marketing it like crazy, I didn't want to lose site of previous works I have created. With that in mind, I have captured images from my previous site and placed them in Flickr for viewing purposes. Most of the pics are of works I have sold. Some are of my set up at a few shows and there is at least one of my dungeoness kiln room (it works for me.) Anyway, this will take you off the site so please come back if you are so inclined. One day I will build an internal gallery on this site but I am not there yet. Thanks.

Check out the Rockwater Glass gallery here:
